In the past six years of operation, GHE’s volunteers have provided more than 23,000 children with continuing care. The donated value of which exceeds three million dollars. It is the children that make the experience so special! They approach every interaction with joy and gratitude and thrive on the individual attention that they receive from our volunteers..

Volunteer Quote "I feel fortunate to have been a pioneer…to
venture into the outlying villages and treat the children of the Khumbu
valley. The experience was exhilarating, unbelievable, challenging,
difficult…an opportunity to know myself better, and to feel connected
to something greater than myself." “[Volunteering at the Dental Camp was] an experience
of love, sharing and giving that has given us rewards beyond measure”
“Buddha said to his monks, trod the earth for
the welfare of others - we came to Nepal and found enchantment with
its people”

Partnership with Namlo International to build schools We have joined forces with the Namlo Foundation, a non-profit organization that builds schools in Nepal and Nicaragua. Namlo has an amazing commitment to the communities where they build schools. Once the school in complete, Namlo is committed to working with the community for five years to assist teachers with curriculum, offer adult education classes, help community members identify business opportunities, and teach the community how to manage the school from the ground up. This commitment helps the community to be self sufficient, instead of relying on charity to sustain their school. Our volunteers will be assisting in the building of new schools, working with the children and working with teachers to help them develop a curriculum and teaching plan for the students. The first project will take place from October 20 - 29, 2007 in Nicaragua. We only have ten spaces on this project, so if you are interested call or e-mail now to secure your space. 2008 project dates for Nepal and Nicaragua are currently being finalized, so be sure to check with our office in the next few weeks for 2008 dates. |
